Making Money With Garbage

Inside the World of Valet Trash

While it may not sound glamorous, there are people making tens of thousands of dollars a month with garbage. Let’s roll up our sleeves, and learn about the world of valet trash services.

What is Valet Trash Service?

Valet trash is a service that is provided to residents living in an apartment complex or a condominium.

Residents can pay a monthly fee to have someone pick up their trash from outside their front door on garbage days. This affords the resident the freedom from having to walk their trash all the way out to a dumpster and prevents them from having to deal with the mess.

Companies providing this service are charging customers around $10 per week. Given the number of apartments in any given complex, and the sheer number of apartment complexes that exist, this service is something that can easily scale and grow in a big way.

What are the up front costs?

One of the largest up front costs is a vehicle to travel from apartment complex to apartment complex. Outside of this, other costs involve insurance for the vehicle, gas for the vehicle, and trash bins to provide to customers so that collection will be streamlined and efficient. If you already have a vehicle, you could potentially start this business for under $600.

How Much Time Does It Take?

Depending on the size of the apartment complex, from collection to disposal, it is possible to finish in 60 - 90 minutes.

Given that trash is usually collected 2 to 3 times a week by these companies, you are looking at being able to run this side hustle in under 5 hours a week per apartment complex.
